Albie is one of my favourite residents living on the Isle of Neverwas. He grew up in the village of Chapel Oak. He dreamed of becoming an adventurer and explorer. Albie is now one of the island’s most famous residents. He has spent much of his life using the Portal to leave the Isle of Neverwas and explore the British Isles and beyond. He is now retired and owns and runs a guesthouse in Slumber-on-Sea.

Albie takes up space in my imagination, and I can’t wait to share his stories; he has so many to tell. When I have a clear character in mind, it makes it easier to crochet them and write the pattern. I knew that Albie was a gentleman, and that meant he would need a hat. I think the top hat makes him look distinguished.
Albie wasn’t my first attempt to design a frog. This is Floyd. This is one of the early characters I designed. I think Floyd has a lot of personality, and I can see how the skills I have learned designing Floyd evolved into my design of Albie.

Overall, I have tried to keep the design of Albie as simple as possible, but there might be a couple of tricky bits if you are just starting out. The joining of the legs can be a bit difficult, but stitch markers can help mark joins when you are counting your stitches. I would also recommend waiting until you’ve made the hat before stitching the eyes to the body.

Creating Albie has brought me immense joy. I hope you find joy in making Albie.
