Hello, beautiful daydreamers. I’m so excited to announce that the crochet pattern for Bright Bear is now available. Creating this pattern has actually taken years.

I don’t have a photo of the original Bright Bear I created. I think the pattern was originally created in 2018 and has sat tucked safely in the pages of one of my many notebooks, waiting for me to return to it. Because I didn’t have any photos of the original Bright Bear, I was interested to see how it would turn out.

My original design was a striped bear using 3 different colours. When I crocheted the bear this time, I decided to use a colourful yarn instead. The yarn I chose for this project is Wendy Giggles DK. I really love the colours, and the yarn was easy to work with.

Removing the stripes was the only alteration I made to the original pattern. Once the bear was crocheted and assembled, I wasn’t happy with the final look; the proportions weren’t quite right. It was time for a redesign.

I altered the number of rows in the body and the head.

I didn’t change the length of the arms, but I did make some small changes to the shape of his paws. It’s my preference not to stuff the arms and only to stuff the hands, as you can see from the picture above.

I didn’t want to alter the original crochet pattern too much. Bright Bear has a lot of personality, and I didn’t want that to disappear with the redesign of the pattern. Once the second bear was made and I was happier with the proportions, I decided to use a different yarn for the final pattern design. I love working with Hayfield Spirit DK. The colour I chose reminds me of summer, and I thought it would be perfect for Bright Bear.

I am so happy I rediscovered this pattern and finally got it finished. You can get the pattern for free in the patterns section of the website. Or for a small fee, you can get the downloadable PDF from Lovecrafts or Raverly.
